Wii

So anyone else have a Wii? I just got my husband one as a late birthday present and we were playing with it last night a bit. So fun! I was kicking his ass at tennis.

So any of you have one or played with one? Recommend any games?

Re: Wii

I am not really into anything particular. This is the first time I have had a game console since the original nintendo. I like the interactive ones so far. We bought a bundle and it came with the Wii Sports, Spider Man 3, Chicken Little, and Paper Mario. the Wii Sports is the most fun so far because you really have to stand up and do the actions. Fun.

Re: Wii

you might like Carnival Games, Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree, Rayman: Raving Rabbids, and Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis. those are out now. not sure how good they are, but they're pretty interactive with the Wii remote. the same with the Trauma Center games. there's one out now and the sequel is due out next month. and EA Playground, Ultimate Duck Hunting, and Hooked! Real Motion Fishing are coming soon. might be worth checking out

but right now the most popular games, other than the sports game (everybody I know who likes the Wii loves it), is Legend of Zelda and Metroid Prime. hope this helps

All the articles I've seen on people breaking their TV's playing Wii I have prefered not to get or play one.

how are they doing that? Throwing the remote? There was a TON of warnings on it about making sure you have the wrist band on and stuff so you dont accidentally throw it.

yeah Zelda sounds fun. I used to like the oldschool one. We preordered Guitar Hero 3 too but we wont get it until the end of October. Apparently my husabnd bought another one today with pool and darts and other stuff on it. Its becoming addictive already!

It may have been with just the original releases of the Wii, but the people would put the wrist strap on and it would break on them and the controller would go smashing into the TV. Not a very smart production idea if you tell me. I like the conscept of the Wii in the fact with obesity at an all time high and making a gaming console that requires you to do physical activity to use it, but I have to many problems with losing my TV due to the strap breaking or something like that

huh. The strap ours came with seems pretty heavy duty. You have to push down a little thing to make it tight on your wrist and everything...and it does warn you to stand a ways back from your tv too. I suppose that it is still possible to damange something around you if you arent paying attention or acting crazy or not following the directions.

I'm willing to bet that they upgraded the strap probably ... Maybe I'll have to go try it out somewhere then.

Re: Wii

The strap was definately upgraded but you still have to use a little common sense. Watch out for ceiling fans and any breakable furniture....sometimes people get into it a little too much.
I've stuck with the basic Wii Sports package and have a blast, especially after a night of drinking bowling is great. I've picked up Tiger Woods golf (a lot harder than Wii golf) and Zelda (my brother plays that, I haven't). There is a fishing game by Rapala that I would like to get, and also the baseball game (Big Leagues I think its called).
With the price of the new systems getting rediculous, this is a relatively low cost alternative for the casual gamers.

Soooo true. We had a friend of ours over last night to play and he was definatly one of the people that all the warnings are written about. He was boxing on the sports game and I thought he was gonne punch right through my tv. Hillarious but THAT is why they have a good wrist strap. I am a little suprised though ebcause the numchuck thingy that you use for certain games like boxing doesnt hae a wrist strap even though you are punching with the thing. I am willing to bet they will start having a strap for that one too soon.

Re: Wii

the whole wrist strap issue and people throwing the remote through their TV is a bunch of crap if ya ask me... simply put: stupid people+high tech equipment=something will get broken.

anyways, I don't personally have a Wii but my friend does and I play it all the time... and I *love* Rayman... it's the best game evAR to play on that system! 2nd best is Mario Party 8....

I played it once. I'm not really a big fan. It just seemed a bit too silly for me.

yeah pretty much. Although with some games I could certainly see the possibility of just having an accidental throw of the remote. Especially with the baseball one where you are actually simulating throwing. Could happen. Stupid as that is.

I havent played Mario Party 8. I love most mario games though.

yeah. that and I'm sure those folks never bothered to think that maybe... just maybe that they should actually try to hold onto that lil remote when making such erratic motions and not rely on that lil string to keep it on your wrist. but that's just me
