My Mood: | The Podcasting Discussion It sounds like a small, half hour show that gets syndicated amongst 300 users, if it's weekly, is going to require about 26 gigs a month bandwidth. Vipertown only has 20 available and uses 6 for the site itself (which I don't get, for fucks sake all we do is RSS Feeds and repost news). I've been thinking about relocating servers anyway, but that will be a huge pain in the ass, and the ones I want to move to require yearly billing. Which I used to do, but after we went broke we went to the 3 month level. I'd have to talk to Lonna about it though, this may still be an option in the near future. In the meantime, there are some free options, but not tremendously reliable. I guess if we're just dipping our feet in though it's not going to be that big of a deal, starting off. I did find some free audio editing software and MP3 encoding software, and the tutorials I'm reading look helpful. More as this story develops.. *lol*

You can get 50G/mo for less than $20, with monthly billing. | |

My Mood: | Re: The Podcasting Discussion I'm thinking for the time being, using the Podcast feature on Myspace blogs and using Feedburner to generate the RSS feed for iTunes. At least see how that works for us. Then maybe six months, a year from now if this looks like something that works and we can stick with, go with globat.com. They offer a terrabyte space and bandwidth for roughly $8 a month, but they want yearly. I just found out the headset I have really does work, I was just plugging it into the wrong sound card port. (forgot the one in the front is hooked up to the onboard card, and I've upgraded) But thats ok, the earpiece on this thing is shit, so when I get the new set, if anyone needs one... If anything, we wanted to do a studio show, everyone that has laptops could just bring theirs and we could all record together and just combine the tracks in post editing. If you're all curious where this all came up, I was talking with Derek earlier about doing podcasting, and it kind of sounds like we were both thinking of doing one but neither of us knew how. There's this podcast on the Farpoint Media network called "Wingin' it," and its basically 14 people getting drunk talking about the news and various things with a vibrator attached to a microphone in the background. It's beyond funny. But I was thinking of either doing a solo show or a show with one other guy on Scifi stuff, literary and scifi news, and then an ensemble show for HOC that would be kind of like the "Pacific Northwest Anti-Social Socialite Society" or something. PNASSS. :P My initial idea is Dubshack's Hermitcast: Keeping out of touch with the Dub on reality and daily life. I'm playing with the format on that right now. The only thing I've come up with so far is interviewing an Iraq war vet and asking them if the Iraqi people are ready to accept the lord Jesus Christ into their hearts.
