My Mood: | Anyone watching Battlestar Galactica? I of course follow it, but then I'm a huge Scifi freak. I'm just curious though how many of you run of the mill folk are keeping up with it. Mainly I'm curious what yall think of it. The thing is, it's definately no Star Trek. And perhaps thats why its so controversial, maybe everyone looked at the original and looked at Star Trek and just didn't expect what they got. Galactica, in the fan circles seems to be extremely controversial. The mini series actually tore the fan base clean in half. Half loved it, the other half wanted to walk up to the Scifi Channel, hang Bonnie Hammer by her toes and burn the whole state of California down. In the mini, they showed a hot blonde, half naked Cylon chick having sex and snapping a babies neck. Pretty crazy. I can't say it was my favorite part of the show, but there was a lot going on in the four hours of entertainment that I did enjoy. Particularly the story of a son disenfranchised with his father, and the two finally learning to come together in the end. But hey, what do I know. I guess the half second snapping sound and wierd glowing spine sex scene are enough to blackball anything. Then the first season of the series came around and it was incredible. Cliffhanger was crazy. Seemed like everyone was loving the show. Then the second season happened, and the first eight eps or so were great. Then the Pegasus episode happened, and people REALLY got up in arms. Oh my god, a Cylon got raped by a human. Ron Moore did this evil thing by making an alegory of Abu Ghurayb. HOW DARE HE make social commentary that cast bad light on Americans. He is SOOOOO Anti-American. Cause if you're against the war in Iraq, you're an anti-american, and you should be burned at the stake. After that I thought I'd seen it all. But then the second season finale aired, where Giaus Baltar get's elected President and makes the colonials settle on a planet, and a year later they all get captured by Cylons. I thought I'd seen it all, then some yahoo declares he's never going to watch the show again because OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A COMMENTARY ON THE 2000 AMERICAN ELECTIONS, AND THE CONTROVERSY OVER BUSH'S ELECTION AND WHERE IT LED OUR NATION. He is just so sick of people attacking Bush and where our nation is today, BECAUSE DOING SO IS ANTI-AMERICAN. God, I can't believe I'm a fan of such an anti-american show. It's funny how life can just turn around, you know? Usually when you're a huge Trekkie, people are telling you to get a life. Now I'm a huge fan of Galactica, and I'm telling other people to get a life.

| Brandon 1st Blood, Part 2 | It's not really my cup of tea. I mean I've only seen a couple episodes but they didn't thrill me. I'm a Stargate SG-1 man myself. Maybe I'll give it another look.

| Mondu's Sperm Bank | I like it. I need to rent the Mini & First Season since I haven't seen either. I watched a couple episodes from this season and was impressed. Yes, Galactica is not Star Trek. It doesn't present the future as a utopia, but it does resemble the third Star Trek series (DS9). (The 'darkest' of all the Star Trek series.) Not too suprising when you know that the man behind the current Galactica was also heavily involved with DS9.
