Charlie & the Chocolate Factory

I went and saw this on Friday. Anyone else seen it yet?

I was not impressed. In fact, I got very bored. My husband fell asleep half way through it and my daughter (who is 4) stated at the end that she liked the other one better. Although it did seem to follow the book a lot better, the music sucked, I though the ompa lumpas were terrible, and it was all in all very slow. Even the candy looked fake and unappetizing to me.

so tell me what you thought!

i was expecting it to be more twisted than it was. Rather than being weird I think Johnny ended up coming off as just stupid sounding. *shrug* this is all my opinion of course.

I don't want to see it. I know it's supposed to be a better adaptation of the book, but frankly, I don't see wasting good money on a movie I know I won't like. Johnny Depp just looks creepy and it looks too dark (Thanks Tim Burton). And supposedly, there was only one guy playing all the oompa loompas cuz there was a short supply of people of short stature thanks to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie.

I heard tim burton wanted it to only be 1 playing all the oompa loompas. they had it on HBO behind the scenes. They wanted to make them all look exactly alike so they scanned him doing all the motions, and computer cloned him to make the rest of the oompa loompas.

I want to see it, but now that I am hearing all this feedback, I think I might skip it till it comes out on video and rent it!

Really? one of my friends was tellin me about it, so it really didn't surprise me since Harry Potter's been so popular lately hehe. But of course, thank god for CGI hehe

I'm a big dpp/burton fan but it's hard to find a movie that wasnt better the first time around. most of these remakes suck hardcore. I'll probably rent it though.

It really wasn't dark. I thought it was gonna be slightly creepy but it wasn't. The original actually had creepier parts (like when they are in the boat) than the new one.

ok, i know there is a lot of skepticism surrounding this "remake" and a lot of people didnt like the idea of how it was changed, but in my opinion you really shouldnt compare this movie to the original. of course it is different, its 30 years newer for one and honestly, i loved it. i thought it was better than the original if you want to compare... but while watching it, i felt this movie was completely seperate from the original. this was a new movie alltogether in my opinion. i thought it was humourous and the visuals were stunning! i felt it had a great and more thorough storyline as well. johnny depp did great and he was perfect for the part. we went to the IMAX showing, so it was a pretty awesome experience.
