Book Recomendation

I just started a new Fantasy series by Kelley Armstrong. The Series is Called Women of the OtherWorld and it is about Witches, Demons etc. The First book is called Dime Store Magic. If you like Laurell K Hamilton you will LOVE these books. I finished the first one yesterday and started the second today.

I'll be sure to check that out when i'm at the bookstore. I need to find out if the ones around here are doing the midnight party for the release of HBP. Laurell rocks. Rowling rocks. Lets hear it for literature.

But of course i do. It's nice to read about a character coming into their power. I've liked all of them so far. I just wish they'd hurry up and get to the feast at the seelie court. I'm dying to know what her uncle is after. A war would be nice seeing as all the unseelie are coming into more power. I got my stepmom reading em to along with the anita series and HP.

I think she really is giving up her throne. If she had her old power than the lost relics would be coming to her not merry. I think she truly cares for her court and would give up the throne for it's survival. One can only wonder what will happen once Cel gets released. He has to suicidaly insane after all those Branwyns tears he's been covered with.

OK i REALLY REALLY dont mean to bash you guys, but have you tried reading deeper materiel? i mean, yeah its entertaining but its also cheap dimestore fluff. do any of you enjoy reading more complicated novels with mutiple levels of understanding?

dont take me wrong, ive read the same books. its just that i can only read so much, it all ends up like the same churned out un-inspired writing, not that they are not entertaining or original in the content, but the words and the writing style is often so dull. i mean its like you can see the authors sitting in front of their word processors straining to squeeze out 3 or 4 of these novels a year.

am i the only one who feels this way?

i mean try comparing rowling or salvatore or even anne mccaffery to burroughs or heinlien or niven.

I'm assuming you mean "deeper stuff" to mean books by people such as sylvia plath (nutcase) kurt vondergutt ( insanely ingenious) or perhaps even shakespeare. Would it surprise you to find out i own the complete works of 'ol willy. I agree with you part way about alot of it seming the same. But i dearly love being entertained. I save the "deeper stuff" for when i have time to contemplate should the need arise. I was always fond of the saying "variety is the spice of life"

i dont mean neccesarrily the thick stuffy classics and such, but entertaining novels written for a higher grade level. something with subtext.

I'll check it out. I've been tryin to find other books that might interest me. If you like the fantasy/sci-fi kinda books, you might like the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley. It's about a boy growing up who can speak to the dead and he faces a necromancer who's also a vampire (but vampirism is different in the book that you've seen in the movies). it's pretty good. I'm tryin to find the ot her books so I can finish up the series.

you should. it's pretty damn cool... especially the vampires (or in the book they're called Wamphyri). but then again, when you get to the book "The Source", you'll see some pretty messed up stuff then. Monsters galore

Baron...

*laughing softly* Some people enjoy sitcoms and some enjoy Drama's. SOme people would rather a well cooked burger to a well cooked filet. I am a former Book Store owner and Book store chain manager. My College schedule was filled with Literature courses.

I enjoy mixing my FIlets with Burgers...
