Something I wrote last fall, came across it again when moving my blog to its new location...

Why are people in such a hurry these days? It's funny what they miss when they're struggling so desperately to rush from Point A to B, stopping to enjoy nothing in between. Never mind pausing to smell the roses (or prick yourself with the thorns, if that's more your style)... What about blowing dandelion seeds into the neighbor's yard and giggling all the way to spring? Yes, it's evil. Yes, there's a special place in hell with my name on it... But I just spent $65 on naked women with a promise to return with a like amount on Sunday (Yes, Stateline Showgirls is my chosen place of worship- might as well go on "The Lord's Day"), so I don't think providing more work for the local gardening demographic will assure me a hotter seat in Hades than my usual weekend activities.

I'm sure no one knows why I was laughing on my way into the grocery store after work this evening. Unless it's the guy I passed on the sidewalk, engaging one another in that funny elaborate dance you share with someone when you try to pass them and can't decide who gets which side of the road. He smirked at me, I smirked back, and everyone else passed by oblivious but for the inevitable random thought "That girl is a thundering loony."

Likewise, I doubt anyone would have understood the mist in my eyes as I walked by one of the few Mountain Ash trees in my neighborhood. My grandma had one for years before the city came and tore it down. It was on that strip of "government property" between the sidewalk and street. She was required to mow the grass, but had no control over whether the tree stayed or left. She cried when they took it away. And I cry whenever I see one and remember how much I miss her.

Life is fucking short, people. Pleasure. Pain. Joy. Loss. Experience this life to the fullest. In the next one, you might be a dandelion. And I just might blow you away.

That is so true! I rush all the time with 3 kids! I already know that if I am suppose to be somewhere at a certain time, I am loading the car up and raring to go an hour early! I guess I shouldn't be like that, but I like to be on time!

Being on time is a good thing. It's just too easy to let time go by without really enjoying the little things in life, and I'm all about the little things.

That is my problem, I don't! With 3 kids, and I am ready to get there and get back! I have little to no patience and since I have them by myself now, it is really rough! I am settled down on my rushing since Shane is gone, but I can't help to feel the urge to just get there and back with 3 screaming kids!

Shane comes home next Monday! I will be damn sure to take my time wherever I go and appreciate the time alone! I am taking the girls to the park tomorrow and I PROMISE not to rush it up. I will take my time and let it go as it goes!
