| One Very Hot Apple | oh my.... that could be a problem.... Burning Man is an extremely social event. you arent ever alone unless you hide in your tent/rv. with 70,000 ppl camping together, its hard to be anti-social and if you were you would miss the point of Burning Man- LOL

| One Very Hot Apple | it started out as a celebration for the end of summer about 20 years ago in the San Fran Bay area on the beach... a small group of ppl, about 20, getting together around a bonfire, saying goodbye to the summer sun, etc... nature lovers, hippie-type ppl.... 20 years later that very act has turned into a 7-day interactive artistic event where roughly 70,000 ppl gather to camp on the desert in Nevada (not enough room on the beach in CA anymore) to celebrate life, nature, people, art and the end of summer. the burning of the man is just that- they basically set fire to a huge wooden built structure of a man that symbolizes a "god" of nature per se (take that with a grain of salt). they do this on the 6th day. they burn the temple on the 7th day. its the end to a new beginning. its a time and place for ppl to come together, not have to live the everyday life, get to know ppl, make friends, be artistic, be yourself, dress up, be naked, express yourself. there is no money exchange so everything is given away, bartered, shared... there are all kinds of ppl, mainly hippie-types, nature lovers, very open-minded ppl.... extremely NON-mainstream. so if you're an avid wal-mart shopper and a bush fan, probably not the best place for you to go-LOL. its people for people, truly caring for one another. its just an awesome experience! plus there is lots of things to do, like the fair with activities and exibits, except they are all free... and of course there is lots of partying and free alcohol and other um party favors- its a very safe, friendly environment. very anti-violence and very trusting. everyone is there for each other. everyone excepts everyone for anything.
