Gross, and also, what?

Welcome to the ongoing trials and tribulations of my plumbing issues. So we currently don't have a working shower with hot water (there is a coffin sized shower downstairs that gets roughly luke warm, don't ask me why becuase it's RIGHT next to the water heater...). The 2 upstairs showers have been leaking for a while, it started off with the one in the "master" bedroom, which until I moved in, had been the kids/boys bedroom for like 15 years (it was L's son's, and before that the 2 little boys' room that lived here before L bought the house), so that shower has always been kind of knarly. But then the shower in the hall bathroom started leaking. So I've been making holes in the house, and pulling out the knarly shower off our bedroom. But now, we're going to have house guests starting the first of Aug or so, so I have a deadline, and must fix the plumbing. But before I started putting things back together, i thought i'd try to clean out the drain pipe a little bit first, since it being clogged is one of the many problems we have. Now along with the expected disgusting greasy smelly hairy gross crap, you'll never guess what I pulled out...... A chisel WTF is a chisel doing in my shower drain? And no wonder we've always had problems with it. L thinks it must have been there since the house caught on fire, which was not just before she bought it 10 years ago, but before the people who she bought the house from had bought it. Oy gavault do i have my work cut out for me. Well, guess i'd better get back

yikes. a chisel beats any of the weird stuff we found in our old house when we tore out both our bathrooms and hte kitchen.
